Korean Ready-cooked Rice
Gochugaru Girl never thought she would buy ready-cooked rice. 
I count as one of life’s pleasures the feeling of rice grains running through my fingers, as I wash them in preparation for the rice cooker.
Samgyetang (삼계탕)
Gochugaru Girl has been waiting for this day since she visited Tosokchon Restaurant* in Seoul this April. This is because she has really wanted to make samgyetang (Ginseng Chicken Soup) at home.
Traditionally in Korea, samgyetang is eaten on the three hottest days of the year according to the lunar calendar. I am hoping that today’s predicted ‘hottest day of the year’ will be repeated at least twice before the summer ends.
Fried Rice with Eggs and Ham
Gochugaru Girl often accompanies her parents to the Wild West. That is to say, the wild West End of London, starting with their favourite department store on Oxford Street.
As shopping can be tiring, it is best that a simple lunch is ready and waiting for when we return from the foray into town.
