Singapore: A Local Walk (AM)

Days like today are quite rare. I made it to 16,472 steps without any effort: a solo walk in the area around the Fullerton Hotel in the morning and evening, sandwiching a walk in the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest in Gardens by the Bay with my friend Shoe Lady. We talked as we walked, and we talked as we ate. Lunch was at Din Tai Fung (Raffles City) and then we shared a Calamansi and Coconut Tart and Earl Grey tea back at the hotel. I had an apple for dinner because by the time I finished the evening walk at 9pm I was more tired than hungry. I was tempted to go for a night swim but then I am nearly 60, and the sensible grey cells have really kicked in to oust sudden carefree urges.

Here are photos from the morning walk. The beautiful photos of plants and flowers will be in a separate post as there are many of them. Photos of the PM walk in the next post.

I have decided to split the article into two parts, with the PM photos in the next post. I leave for London tomorrow night and have a little bit of packing left to do. At the last moment I am also fitting in a meet-up with Stanford Friend tomorrow morning, after she emailed me out of the blue. I had thought of contacting her as my car passed Woodlands on the way into Singapore, but hesitated as I thought she might be away for the school holidays. Stanford Friend was in my Bible Study Group when she was based in London. God is quite good at sorting out my days for me as I have not had a dull moment since landing in Singapore. I guess Sir Stamford Raffles said the same over 200 years ago.
